Keaton Dauk from Pulaski won the Division 1 300-meter hurdles and Oconto Falls’ Brady Bursa captured gold in the Division 2 long jump at the WIAA State Track and Field Championships on June 5-6 at the Veterans Memorial Stadium Complex on the campus of UW-La Crosse.
It marked the 130th year for the boys events and 55th year for the girls.
Dauk won the hurdles in 37.91 seconds. Bursa’s winning jump was 23 feet 2 inches.
Medals are awarded to the top six finishers in every event.
Dauk joined Max Fredrickson, Landyn Kroll and Kam McKeefry in earning second place in the 4x100-meter relay.
Pulaski’s Emerson Fabry placed fifth in the girls 800-meter run.
The Oconto Falls girls 4x100 team of Emery Pagel, Brooke Fenlon, Gracie Miller and Rylie Shallow finished fifth.
In Division 3, Presley Stewart-Rolfs of Marion/Tigerton placed second in the girls discus. The Bonduel 4x100 team of Paige Niquette, Josie Pawlak, Audrey Jacobs and Peyton Westrich finished fourth, and Westrich was sixth in the 400-meter dash.
For the boys, Gillett’s Bradyn Wendorff finished fourth.
Wendorff just graduated from Gillett High School. He has competed at the state track meet all four years and has also competed at the state cross country meet all four years. Wendorff also won the M&O cross country title the last three years.
Also in fourth was Zander Thomson of Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy in the 110-meter hurdles. Bonduel’s Ryan Westrich placed sixth in the shot put.
