Gabe Boivin was three strokes off the lead as he led Menominee Nation/Gresham to first place at Maple Hills Golf Course in Wittenberg.

Menominee Nation won with a 344 followed by Marion in fifth place with 372, Wittenberg-Birnamwood in sixth with 374 and Bonduel in 10th with 431.

It’s all about the food and love at Ignacio’s Puebla Street Food, a new Mexican restaurant near downtown Shawano.

Ignacio Ramirez-Juarez’s love for the food he grew up with in Puebla City, Mexico, inspired him to open the restaurant in early March.

“I just follow my heart,” Ramirez-Juarez said. ”When I was a child watching my grandma, my mother, my aunt cooking, that’s my way to cook.”

Wisconsin had 4.1 days suitable for fieldwork statewide for the week ending May 3, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Where fields were dry enough, manure spreading, spring tillage and fertilizer applications took place. Planting of soybeans and corn continued, although soil temperatures remain on the cool side.

Shawano 4, Pulaski 3

Shawano tennis players won a pair of singles matches and a pair of doubles matches to defeat Pulaski 4-3 on the courts of Shawano Community Middle School.

Tannier Thiel defeated Oriol Capella Rodon 6-4, 6-4, at No. 1 singles, and John Kim defeated Conrad Kreutzberg 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 4 slot.

Efforts to improve Shawano Community High School are going to be kicking into high gear in May, as some of the projects are coming to completion while much of the work will begin in earnest now that winter has ended.
