Marvin Gehm, 87, Town of Washington, passed away May 15, 2026, in the same house he was born in, in 1938.
He attended Tracy Corners Grade School and Bonduel High School, graduating in 1956. He met his future wife, Carol Schneider, at a dance at the Fox Ballroom in Cecil. They were married March 22, 1958. Together, they worked on the family farm and raised two children, Bonnie and Steve.
He was a member of the Cecil/Town of Washington Fire Department and White Clay Lake Sportsman’s Club. He found time to work off the farm as well, as an LTE Wisconsin conservation warden, Town of Washington constable, tilling gardens for a multitude of local residents and probably his favorite job — picking up roadkill deer in Shawano and Oconto counties.
He was an avid trapper, hunter and fisherman. While he fished quite a few lakes and rivers, White Clay Lake was definitely his favorite. After his health kept him home, he stayed in close contact with his fishing buddies, Scott and Fred.
In his 40s, he was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and told by the doctors that he would be in a wheelchair within 20 years. He was bullheaded enough to keep going and put off the wheelchair until his last few years of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ewald and Esther (Brede) Gehm; and his wife of 64 years, Carol, in 2023.
He is survived by his children, Bonnie (Tom) Timm and Steve; granddaughters, Jennifer (Tom) Richter and Emily (James) Brown; great-grandchildren, Gianna and Hunter; friend and caregiver, Armando Llanas; and his dog, Paco.
A private remembrance will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks to everyone at Unity Hospice, especially CNA Hannah, for their extraordinary care and support.
