An attic fire at a house in Bonduel is believed to have been caused by an electrical issue, according to a Bonduel Fire Department official.
Bonduel Fire Chief Kevin Lynch said the Feb. 20 fire started in the attic.
At about 5:40 a.m., the fire department was called to a North Cecil Street home. Initial information reported a loud pop followed by smoke filling the residence.
Upon arrival, crews confirmed two adults and a dog had safely exited the home.
Fire was discovered in the attic. The attic and its contents sustained heavy fire damage. The first floor of the structure sustained extensive water damage as a result of suppression efforts, Lynch said in a news release.
The Bonduel Area Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Shawano Area Fire Department, Cecil Washington Fire Department, Navarino-Lessor Fire Department, Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, Bonduel Police Department, Shawano Ambulance Service, Bonduel Municipal Operations, and WE Energies.
At about noon, Bonduel firefighters returned to the residence for reports of smoke coming from the eaves. Crews located a small, concealed fire in the attic space and extinguished it promptly.
Damage estimates are unknown at this time. No injuries were reported to civilians, pets or firefighters.
