Shawano County joins national celebration for 4-H

From fairgrounds to classrooms, community parks to college labs, 4-H youth in Shawano County are proving they’re not just ready for the future, they’re beyond ready.

During National 4-H Week, celebrated Oct. 5-11, local clubs are showcasing how 4-H equips young people with the skills, confidence, and resilience to lead in a world full of opportunity and change.

Drews presenting on true-crime novels in Oconto

Lynda Drews will be visiting Oconto through an event put on by Farnsworth Public Library.

Her visit will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 19 at Oconto City Hall, 1210 Main St., Oconto.

Drews will share about the research behind her historical true crime books, “Disposable Wives” and “The Maid and the Socialite.”

Eagles, Hawks soar to shutout wins

The Eagles shut out the Cavaliers in three sets 25-7, 25-13, 25-15.

The games were close, but the Tritons emerged victorious in all three by scores of 25-20, 25-18, 25-17.

Shawano 3, Green Bay East 0

Shawano won its conference match 25-10, 25-12, 25-20.

Redbirds shut out Red Raiders on soccer field

De Pere 2, Pulaski 0

The Red Raiders fell to the Redbirds by a score of 2-0.

Tied 0-0 after one half of play, Nick Myers broke the deadlock with a goal for De Pere in the 49th minute. Maxim Skurka added an insurance goal for De Pere in the 72nd minute.

Pulaski defeats Shawano on tennis courts

Pulaski 6, Shawano 1

Pulaski swept the doubles matches and won three of the four singles bouts in a 6-1 win over the Hawks.

Shawano’s Jaelyn Hietpas defeated Anna Krause at No. 1 singles by identical 6-4 scores, but that was the team’s only victory.

Pulaski’s Emory Groteluschen, Alana Stangler and Riley Hartman won the other three singles matches.

Tigerton defeats White Lake, Marion shuts out Bowler

Tigerton traveled to CWC-North foe White Lake and returned home with a 3-1 win with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 20-25 and 25-13.

Waupoose wins boys race in Oconto

Oconto Invitational

Menominee Nation junior Bryant Waupoose III won the Oconto Invitational in 17 minutes, 12 seconds.

Teammates Cashius Reevis placed 15th in 19:54.1, and Christopher Waubanascam was 66th in 26:04.8.

West De Pere soccer team shuts out Pulaski

West De Pere 2, Pulaski 0

The Phantoms topped the Red Raiders 2-0 in conference play.

Both West De Pere goals came in the second half as Grayson Birder converted a penalty kick for his first goal and added the second 12 minutes later.

Stangler notches lone victory for Pulaski tennis against De Pere

Alana Stangler, playing at No. 3 singles, earned the only victory for Pulaski in a 6-1 loss to De Pere.

Stangler defeated Sophia Yang 6-3, 7-6 (3).
