HISTORY: The Commanders and Packers have a historic matchup related to Sept. 11.
The two teams met on a Monday night for the first Monday night game following the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C. Then-Packers linebacker Chris Gizzi, a former member of the Air Force, sprinted out of the tunnel with the American flag in his hand. The crowd exploded into a fervor that lasted for the duration of the night.
The Packers won that night, 37-0 behind three touchdown passes from Brett Favre.
The last time these two teams met, they were drastically different. Aaron Rodgers was throwing passes to Sammy Watkins, and Taylor Heinicke was the starting quarterback in Washington.
The Commanders won that day, 23-21.
