State aid drops for rural school districts

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction announced state general school aids for the 2025-26 school year, and most area school districts are seeing a reduction of the aid it received in the previous school year.

18-year-old dies in Oconto Falls crash

An 18-year-old man is dead following a vehicle rollover in the Town of Oconto Falls.

Dispatchers were notified after 10 p.m. Oct. 17 about a one-vehicle rollover accident involving a car with injuries on County Road B south of Busy Nook Road.

Shawano County’s new building projects estimated at $308M

Shawano County supervisors were warned about sticker shock when it came time to discuss costs of constructing new county buildings.

They were presented with three options. Two included building a new jail, sheriff’s department, justice center, government offices and a library, while the third was to renovate the existing courthouse only.

• Dawn L. Oshkeshequoam, 52, Green Bay, pleaded no contest Oct. 16 to operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance (fourth offense), possession of narcotic drugs, six counts of felony bail jumping, misdemeanor bail jumping, and misdemeanor charges of operating while revoked and resisting or obstructing an officer.

• Kaz R. Howard, 23, Aniwa, pleaded no contest Aug. 19 to first-degree sexual assault of a child under age 13. Judge Michael Judge sentenced him Oct. 17 to 12 years in prison followed by eight years of extended supervision with conditions.
