Life’s unique and individualized moments are made more special with the help of Full Bloom Events, 750 E. Green Bay St., Shawano.
Owner Karen Wassenberg opened her storefront shop part time on May 1, with opening full time June 22.
Full Bloom Events’ floral shop offers full-service flowers and much more.
Starting her business just doing florals for weddings and balloon décor for parties, it morphed into additional décor such as backdrops for events like baby showers, bridal showers and corporate events. Also offered are inflatables for parties, corporate events and church happenings. She can also add balloon garlands or arches to the inflatables for more personalization.
“I do personalized décor, floral artistry and balloon installations for various occasions such as weddings, birthdays, graduations and corporate events,” said Wassenberg. “I am really proud to be a local business dedicated to bringing client’s visions to life with careful attention to detail.”
Starting out doing florals for friends and family, Wassenberg had an Etsy shop for a while doing flowers for proms and homecomings and sending them out across the country.
“On the side, I do vinyl décor, Christmas ornaments, teacher appreciation gifts, shirts and most special events,” said Wassenberg. “Anything can be made better with a balloon. Balloons make everyone smile. Flowers do the same thing. They bring both joy and comfort to people.”
She was previously employed as branch manager of Associated Bank. Recently, one of her coworkers had lost her dog.
“I felt I needed to do something for her, so I created an arrangement of a puppy dog from carnations and included the rainbow bridge poem in a frame. She was touched,” said Wassenberg.
Full Bloom Events will be taking off in other directions, branching off into new entities called Petals and Pops, which will be an all-inclusive flower and balloon unit, and DK Premier Party Rentals, which will make available cotton candy, popcorn and a slushy machine for rent, as well as their already established inflatable rentals.
Family includes three boys at home — Corbyn, 14, and twin boys Ryder and Caden, 11.
“My boys are my helpers, working in the back, organizing stuff. They cut flowers and help me with balloon setups,” said Wassenberg. “My boyfriend, D.J., is a huge supporter. He was the brains behind this whole thing, giving me encouragement and help.”
With her aim to make people happy, Wassenberg strives to make every event memorable.
“My goal is to make special occasions even more memorable, or in the case of the most vulnerable of times, to comfort them with flowers and balloons. History has told us that these are the best two ways to bring cheer to people. They bring me a lot of joy,” she said. “I continue to learn every day about new floral and balloon techniques. They are both an art. I love being happy, and I just want to bring that happiness to others.”
