A July 10 fundraiser organized by Bullfrogs and Butterflies Childcare Center raised more than $20,000 for the Johnson family following the death of 5-year-old Charlotte Johnson.

Charlotte, daughter of Cruz and Erin Johnson, died July 1 after she was pulled from a pond at Shawano Mini Golf, an 18-hole mini-golf course at 1056 E. Green Bay St.

Charlotte is survived by her parents; a brother, Brantley; and other family members.

Funeral services were held July 8.

A police investigation continues.

Childcare officials said they started organizing the event July 6. Kayla Brendemuehl and her family organized a raffle, which raised most of the proceeds.

Walmart donated food for the event. Full Bloom donated a bouncy house for the children’s entertainment.

Dozens of individuals assisted before, during and after the fundraiser.

Also on July 10, the mini-golf course owners announced they would reopen for the season.

Owner Dusty DeLorme had previously put out a public statement offering condolences to the family.

Shawano Mini Golf reopened in June after closing its doors in 2022.
