Eland, Hatley combine for 33 hits, 29 runs

Eland and Hatley’s BABA baseball teams put up some big numbers under the lights July 24 in their North Division matchup in Eland.

The Engineers scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and went on to hand the Braves a 22-7 loss in a game that included 33 hits and 29 runs.

North Division

Eland 22, Hatley 7

Jacob Ligenza had five of Eland’s 20 hits, while teammate Ryan Richter added four hits, including three home runs. Tyler Nelson and Peyton Flees had three hits; and Nic Barnes had two hits.

Kodie Kocher and Jeremy Schmidt each had three of Hatley’s 13 hits, while Nick Cotter, Braxton Olsen and Tanner Kocher added two each.

Nelson picked up the win on the mound, and Ben Cunliffe took the loss.

Aniwa 7, Crandon 1

Jayden Karcz had three of Aniwa’s 15 hits in a road win over the Kentucks on July 26.

Gavin Steppart, Kody Szews, Ryan Govek, Max Kasprak and Cory Mortenson added two hits each.

Cole Shepherd led Crandon with three of his team’s eight hits, while Tyler Sprink added two.

Denton Mortenson picked up the win on the mound, and Trent Palubicki took the loss.

Elderon 13, Antigo/Polar 5

The WhiskeyJacks headed to Antigo on July 24 and returned home with a win over the Bears.

Justin Meronk and MacLaen Alwes each had three of Elderon’s 16 hits, while Trevor Groshek, Brandon Groshek and Matt Meronk added two each.

Braxton Olson, Reed Kuenzli and Brady Renfro each had two of Antigo/Polar’s nine hits.

Thomas Lemanczyk picked up the win on the mound, and Will Kubeny took the loss.

West Division

New London 10, Wittenberg 0

The Pilots didn’t have an answer for Mike Helsten, who struck out 10 batters while holding Wittenberg scoreless to get the win on the mound.

Austin Warren drove in three runs on two hits for the Irish, while Tyler Gerrits, Ethan Hertzfeldt and Ethan Bergen added two hits each.

Caroline 13, Weymont 0

Mason Breitenfeldt hit his first BABA home run in the Cougars’ win over the White Bass on July 24 in Weyauwega.

Jack Yaeger added a home run for Caroline, while Klay Barkow pitched five shutout innings to pick up the win on the mound.

Yaeger had three hits for the Cougars, while Cole Rosenow added three hits and scored three runs. Breitenfeldt finished with two hits.

Tilleda at Leopolis

South-Central Division

Plover 10, Menominee 4

Plover, out of the South-Central Division, hosted Menominee, an East Division team, July 26.

Plover opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of runs on Kaden Thauer’s double and Josh Marcione’s groundout.

The Pterodactyls added to their lead in the next inning on Zach Houston’s groundout before adding five runs on five hits in the fourth. Jason Jones and Brady Houston had RBI singles; Marcione added a two-run single, and an error brought in another run.

Jackson Fox, Thauer, Zach Houston and Brady Houston each had two of Plover’s 12 hits.

Bryce Dixon and Mitchell VonDeWolle each drove in a run for the Indians, and Austin Peters led Menominee with two hits.

Jones picked up the win on the mound after holding the Indians to one hit and no runs over six innings. Pete O’Kimosh took the loss for Menominee after relieving starter Ray Lemieux.

Scandinavia 6, Plover 3

Scandinavia picked up a win over Plover on July 22.

Ben Lee and Matt Glodowski led Scandinavia with two hits, while Tim Sackmann and Kaden Thauer led Plover with two hits.

Cyle Zblewski got the win on the mound, and Josh Opiola took the loss.
