Christine “Chris” Schenkoski, 73, of Abrams, passed away at home June 19, 2026. She was born Sept. 7, 1952, in Oconto Falls to the late Donald and Mary (Machurick) McDermid.
Chris graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1970. On Sept. 8, 1978, she married Marlin “Pete” Schenkoski at St. Louis Catholic Church in Abrams. She spent 20 years at Bayland Telephone before owning and operating Abrams Food and Variety for more than 10 years until her retirement.
Chis loved her flowers and spent all summer keeping them weeded and looking healthy. She enjoyed riding her golf cart with her “girls,” Lillie and Lizzie. She never passed up a great rummage sale and enjoyed collecting antiques, especially pink Depression glass, jewelry and hens on a nest. She especially liked talking on the phone with her friends and spending time with her grandkids.
Chris is survived by her loving husband, Pete; her daughter, Dana (Doug Jr.) Wojcik and their children, Alexis and Brennin; her brothers, Jim (Sue) McDermid and Keith (Lynn) McDermid; brothers-in-law, Allen Schenkoski and Gary (Laura) Schenkoski. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Mary McDermid; infant sister, Linda; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bennie and Florence Schenkoski; brother-in-law, Gaylord Schenkoski; sister-in-law, Jane Schenkoski.
Chris’ family would like to thank Unity Hospice, especially RN Ashley for her kindness and compassion offered to Chris and her family.
Per Chris’ wishes, a private celebration of life will be held.
