Northcentral Technical College Northcentral Technical College has announced the president’s list for outstanding academic achievement for the spring 2021 term.

The 31st annual Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce Fall Homecoming Parade will be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 24 with lineup on Elizabeth Street beginning at 5 p.m. Parade participants will need to enter the staging area off of Lincoln Street.

September is Library Card Signup Month, and Shawano County Library will join the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning. There is nothing more empowering than signing up for a library card, according to a county library press release.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is providing up to $200 million to provide relief to timber harvesting and timber hauling businesses that have experienced losses due to COVID-19 as part of USDA’s Pandemic Assistance for Producers initiative. Loggers and truckers can apply for assistance through USDA’s Farm Service Agency through Oct. 15.

Emelie Horsens, of Cecil, has been selected for a $5,000 Women in Auto Care Scholarship. Horsens was selected in June from more than 1,000 applicants to receive a University of the Aftermarket Foundation Scholarship and plans to attend Northeastern Wisconsin Technical College to study collision repair. The foundation provides funding for aftermarket educational programs, research, and scholarships.
