Shawano County 4-H celebrates successful year

Shawano County 4-H wrapped up a successful year with the 4-H Fall Fun Fest, held at the Dam Barn, Caroline. Attendees enjoyed a meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, Polish sausages, cheddar wursts, macaroni and cheese, fruit salad and nachos. Shawano County 4-H recently wrapped up a successful year of achievement with the 4-H Fall Fun Fest, held at the Dam Barn, Caroline.

Donations were collected for the Shawano Area Early Childhood Partnership’s Giving Closet. Youths and adults made pumpkin magnets to be distributed as a community service project.

On behalf of the Ag Ambassadors and Farm Bureau, Bob Krause awarded Fair Herdsman of the Year to Loretta Ness. Herdsmanship awards among 4-H Clubs were presented to Tri County, first place; Belle Plaine, second place; and Landstad, third place.

Mary Lou Kugel represented Shawano County Dairy Promotions in awarding June Dairy Month Promotions awards to Wolf River 4-H for first place and Angelica 4-H for second place.

Recordbook awards were earned by Brayden Conradt, Braxton Dunnick, Grayson Engel, Remington Engel, Analee Korth, Madeline Mertz, Olivia Oesterreich, Sophia Oesterreich, Everett Pettis, Celestina Ullmer, Chloe Bessette, Kelsey Conradt, Leah Hanson, Molly Hanson, Madison Harbaugh, Emma Strebel, Scholastica Ullmer, Ursula Ullmer, Josh Ahlers, Cole Erdmann, Hailey Erdmann, Harlyn Habeck Krueger, Annika Jannusch, Taya Jannusch, Ruby Onesti, Kendra Strebel, Gemma Ullmer and Montana Ullmer.

Awards for members turning in their Graduating Year Recordbook Series were Natalie Ahlers and Montana Ullmer.

New this year were awards through nomination from club members and leaders.

In the youth division, Kayne Cowden was awarded Rookie of the Year. Dean Posbrig earned the Spark Award. Levi Wendorff was recognized for the 4-H Community Service Award. Abby Goers and Evelyn Gruenewald were awarded the I Dare You Leadership Award. Natalie Ahlers was recognized with the 4-H Key Award.

Among the adult volunteer awards, Casey Bartz was awarded the 4-H Spark. Kate Dillenburg was recognized as the 4-H Volunteer of the Year. Joan Block was named the 4-H Lifetime Volunteer Award Winner. The 2025 Friend of 4-H was given to Brenda Bartz, of Brenda’s Brushstrokes and Bisque.

The top baker at the fall fun fest was the Posbrig Family, followed by Abby Goers, and third place earned by the Erdmann Family.

The theme for 2025-26 was voted as “Let’s TACObout Shawano County 4-H!”

Three teams of youths and adults participated in the “Bike Build” competition, assembling three bikes for Toys for Tots. Bike kits were donated by Thrivent and First Call Locksmith.
