Sandra Ruth “Sandy” Banaszynski, 75, of Cecil, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 23, surrounded by her family after a long battle with diabetes. Born July 20, 1938, in Oconto Falls to the late Elmer and Toddy Krueger, Sandy graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1956. On Sept. 8, 1957, she was united in marriage to Ben Banaszynski at Assumption BVM of Pulaski. She was employed for many years at Maple Lane Health Care Center, from which she retired. Sandy loved the visits from her sister, Barb, her sassy dog, Sprocket, beautiful roses, casinos, football and was a loyal NASCAR fan (Finger Jinx Johnson!). Sandy is survived by her husband, Ben, and her children, Lyn (Michael Hogan) Banaszynski, Jay (Anne) Banaszynski, Dawn (Jon Kast) Banaszynski and Lauralee (Rick Bellin) Banaszynski; nine grandchildren, Jason (Wendy) Nooyen, Jeremy Nooyen, Kelly (Mike) Kallies, Misty (Brad) Reed, Kevin (Megan) Banaszynski, Nicci (fiance Bobby Reiter) Banaszynski, Daylee Tiegs, Amanda (Donny Drogemuller) Nelson and Austin Nelson; 13 great-grandchildren, Christian, Kolton, Gracie, Keegan, Elizabeth, Mitchell, Tesia, Jaden, Damien, Jagger, Danika, Skylee and Ace. She is further survived by her sister, Barbara Robertson, of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Diane Krueger, Gillett; sister-in-law, Marlene Krueger, Oconto Falls; and special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Krueger; brother-in-law, Jim Robertson; and a nephew, Geno Krueger. The family will greet family and friends on Saturday, July 27, at Swedberg Funeral Home of Shawano from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. A memorial service will follow.
