An Oconto Falls High School teacher has been arrested on allegations of misconduct, Oconto Falls School District Superintendent Stuart Russ wrote in a letter to district staff and families.

Oconto County Jail records show the man was booked into the jail the evening of Dec. 14 on suspicion of sexual misconduct by school staff and fourth-degree sexual assault.

No records of criminal charges has been filed yet, according to online court records.

“We are deeply disappointed by the nature of the allegations,” Russ wrote. “As soon as the allegations were communicated to school officials, the staff member was immediately removed from school and relieved of his responsibilities.”

Russ said the district has been communicating with any students and their parents who may have been affected by this staff member’s conduct and will continue to communicate and provide support as appropriate.

He also said the district has many dedicated staff, and the actions of one person does not tarnish their efforts.

“Oconto Falls High School and the Oconto Falls District is comprised of dedicated and fantastic staff that support the education of our students every day,” he wrote. “The actions of one individual does not diminish their excellence nor the strength of the Panther community. We appreciate the community’s support as we work through this challenging situation.”
