William A. Ehlers

William A. Ehlers, 86, of Townsend, passed away Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.

William was born June 10, 1939, to the late Allan and Madge (Wheeler) Ehlers. He married Carmen Retrum on Nov. 10, 1962. She preceded him in death on Nov. 19, 2022.

Bernadine (Eschner) Kappes
Known to many as Nitzie, Bernadine Kappes passed away on July 26, 2025. She was 95 years old and was born to Ben and Anna Eschner in Gillett on Dec. 6, 1929. She grew up during the era of the Great Depression and World War II. While living in and around Gillett, she attended Gillett High School. She was active in the band and was the drum majorette. Because many men were away to the war, she worked on the farms with her father.
Jane L. Schenkoski
Jane L. Schenkoski, 77, of Gillett, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 28, 2025, surrounded by family. Jane was born Nov. 23, 1947, in Oconto Falls to the late Olaf and Louise (Wendt) Pederson. She graduated from Bonduel High School in 1965. After high school, Jane worked at Pulaski Shoe Factory for several years. She later worked at two bakeries, which she loved, and as a waitress at Club 32 for 21½ years.
Donald Augesen
Donald “Don” V. Augesen, 58, of the Town of Morris, passed away unexpectedly on July 26, 2025, at the ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano. Donald Vernon Augesen was born in California on Dec. 15, 1966, as the son of Magdalena “Maggie” (Schneider) Augesen-Huss and the late Vernon Augesen.
Gary ‘Tom’ Van Caster
Gary “Tom” Thomas Van Caster, 83, Oconto Falls, died of old age Tuesday morning, July 22, 2025. With the help of his daughter, Tiffney, he was able to be right where he wanted to be during the end of life process, in his recliner, at home. He was born Jan. 30, 1942, in Green Bay to Harry and Eleanor (Ruby) Van Caster. He grew up in the area and graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1960. He was drafted into the U.S.
Daniel J. Hable
Daniel J. Hable, 65, of Antigo, passed away peacefully at his home July 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Nov. 20, 1959, at Langlade Memorial Hospital in Antigo, Dan was the son of Frank and Joan (De Broux) Hable. Dan lived life fully and with joy. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and spending time in nature.
