Shawano’s boys track and field team won first place with 120.5 points and the girls placed third with 51 at Seymour.

The boys captured several gold medals including Bryce Lammers in the 100-meter dash in 11.74 and the 200-meter dash in 23.92.

CWC Mini-Meet #1

Menominee Nation/Gresham’s Elliott Penass scored an 80 to tie for medalist honors at Foxfire Golf Course in Waupaca.

Teammate Gabe Boivin had an 84, tied for third best.

All told, Menominee Nation/Gresham placed second with 357. They were followed by Marion in fifth with 384, Wittenberg-Birnamwood in sixth with 406 and Bonduel in 11th with 510.

Cutting positions to eliminate $1.7 million in red ink from the 2026-27 Shawano School District budget continues to draw objections from people to the Shawano School Board.

The board voted in February to cut positions to bring the district in alignment with its own student-to-staff ratios after learning that existing expenditures would leave it well in debt when the time comes in October to approve its final budget.

The Shawano School Board approved more than $500,000 in raises for employees at every level April 27, but some bristled at the idea of approving them all in one stroke.

All employees will be receiving a 2.63% cost-of-living increase. Support staff will also receive an additional 0.37% increase to round out the wage hike to 3%. Administrators will only see the cost-of-living increase.

The Pulaski girls soccer team traveled to Sheboygan for a Fox River Classic Conference matchup against Sheboygan North.

The Red Raiders and Golden Raiders contest ended in a 0-0 draw.

Pulaski goalkeeper Lucia Di Gennaro had 3 saves in the shutout draw.

The Red Raiders are now 4-2-2 on the season.

De Pere 7, Pulaski 0

Pulaski tennis players were shut out 7-0 by De Pere.

The closest contest was the No. 4 singles match when Jackson DeCleen defeated Aaron Trijueque Ruiz 6-4, 3-6, 10-3.

Thoma Pannatier, Oriol Capella Rodon and Jonah Drevs also lost their singles matches.

Oneida Nation 15, Pulaski 3 (boys)

Pulaski’s boys lacrosse team dropped to 0-7 in the Bay Valley Conference and 0-11 overall after a 15-3 loss to Oneida Nation.

Sun Prairie United 5, Pulaski 2 (girls)

The Pulaski girls lacrosse team is 0-7 overall following a 5-2 loss to Sun Prairie United.

It took almost four years for Michael Ingold’s homicide case to come to trial, but it took just a few hours for a jury to return April 28 and say he wasn’t guilty in Sheila Laudon’s death.

Plans to expand a natural gas pipeline in Michigan and Wisconsin, including through Shawano and Oconto counties, is drawing a lot of interest from affected residents.
