Lorraine Rose Splitgerber, 89, of Shawano, passed away on Tuesday morning, Sept. 17, 2013, at her home. Lorraine was born June 22, 1924, in the town of Waukechon, Shawano County, a daughter of the late August and Laura (Bluemke) Rusch. Lorraine attended the Shawano schools. On March 22 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert J. Splitgerber at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. The couple made their home in Shawano following their marriage.

The Shawano County Finance Committee does not want to spend $715,000 on an evidence storage facility. The committee on Monday put a proposal to build the facility on hold. It also took no action on approving foundation work for the facility because there were no estimates of the costs. Jim Heinz ended his 15-year stint on the Shawano School Board with an email sent to board president Julie Van Dyck on Sunday. Van Dyck announced Heinz’s resignation at Monday’s board meeting.
