“The Art of the Quilter: III,” the fifth annual quilt show presented by the Walls of Wittenberg, opens Saturday in the WOWSpace, 114 Vinal St., Wittenberg.
Quilters from Rhinelander to Cedarburg, Scandinavia to Stevens Point and many places in between are represented. The exhibition is free and open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Sharon Rotz, Mosinee, well-known quilter, textile artist, author and pattern creator, chose the award winners and provided a few of her own quilts to the show.
The quilt show continues on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Feb. 16. The show sponsors are Nueske’s District No. 3 Antique Store and Nueske’s Applewood Smoked Meats.
Louise Schotz, of Irma, a retired chemistry teacher and now full-time quilter, will present “A Quilter’s Eye Views South African Arts” at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wittenberg Community Center, 208 W. Vinal St. She will illustrate her talk with many pieces of purchased art work — embroideries, bead work, pottery, screen prints and more — that she acquired on her recent trip to South Africa.
Suggested donation is $5 for the presentation.
