The Gresham Community High School boys basketball team beat Central Wisconsin Conference-10 foe Wild Rose 67-64 in overtime Friday night in Gresham.
The Wildcats (11-2, 9-2 CWC-10) fell behind early and needed to outscore Wild Rose 21-15 in the final period to force overtime. Gresham held an 11-7 edge in the extra stanza.
“I thought we came out kind of flat,” Gresham coach Jeff Zobeck said. “We didn’t have a lot of energy.”
Killian Eggert, who has missed the last three games with a injured ankle, helped spark Gresham when he returned in the second half.
“Our confidence kind of jumped back up and we dug in, got it to overtime,” Zobeck said.
Scott Cerveny led Gresham with 18 points. Christian Haffner added 14 and Neil Cerveny had 13. Eggert finished with eight points.
Aaron VandeCastle led Wild Rose (7-6, 6-3 CWC-10) with 22 points.
“He’s a big guy,” Zobeck said. “He gave us problems the first time, too. We don’t have anyone with significant size. He’s a wide-bodied strong kid and he gives us fits down there.”
