SCHS breaks out its song and dance
Most con men today get their faces plastered on the evening news, but Shawano Community High School is presenting a story about a bad man turned good in “The Music Man.” The show features high school and middle school students, along with an adult barbershop quartet. Performances are at 7 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at the school, 220 County Road B, with the doors opening 30 minutes before each performance. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for students.
Watch fast-paced Tilleda ice action
While the weather is not expected to be severe, expect to hear some thunder around the Tilleda area. Tilleda Thunder on Ice holds ice racing at 1 p.m. every Saturday through February on Tilleda Pond. Member adults pay $3 to get in, nonmembers $5; it’s $15 per carload. Children under 12 and adults over 65 get in for free. Food and beverages are available at the pond. Skate through the long winter nights
If you have some ice skates that are sitting in your closet feeling neglected, it might be a good time to take them out for some fun. This weekend, the public can go skating at the Crawford Center, 255 S. Waukechon St., in Shawano. Saturday’s open skating hours are 7-9 p.m. Sunday’s hours are 5-7 p.m. It costs $3 per person to get in, plus $2 to rent skates if you don’t come with your own. The open skating is hosted by the Shawano Hockey League.
Go for a swim; bring the family
It’s been so frigid this winter that the last thing anyone would dream of doing is getting wet. However, the Shawano Recreation Center has plenty of activities this weekend in a warm facility. Open swim hours are from 1-3:45 p.m. and 6:30-8:45 p.m. Saturday, and 2-3:45 p.m. Sunday. There is also a family swim time from 5-6:30 p.m. Saturday. The cost for the open swim is $2 for adults and $1 for children, but if you’re a rec center member, it’s half price. The cost is $1 per person for the family swim. The rec center is located at 220 E.
