Ilamae K. Buckoski, 81, of Ashwaubenon and De Pere, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014. She was born on Sept. 17, 1932, to the late John and Emma (Viergutz) Kroll in the town of Herman, Shawano County.
Ilamae graduated from Shawano High School in 1950. She married Eugene Buckoski on Oct. 27, 1951, in Leopolis. He preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1995.
Ilamae was employed at West Side Clinic as an assistant administrator for 30 years and retired in 1995. She was a charter member of the Wisconsin Clinic Personnel Management Association and was the chairperson in 1981 and 1987. Ilamae was also a member of Management Women from 1989 through 1995 and served as secretary 1991-1992. She was a founding member and faithful leader for over 50 years for Pilgrim Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed Bible study, volunteering and the Lunch Bunch. Ilamae was an avid Packers fan and attended the Ice Bowl and two Super Bowls. She liked to watch baseball and softball in Wisconsin and Florida and was an Ashwaubenon Jaguars fan. Attending Country USA and traveling 46 states and Europe were special times for Ilamae. She enjoyed music, especially Vince Gill, and was an avid reader. Ilamae volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Ashwaubenon and Green Bay elementary schools.
Ilamae loved her immediate and extended family and valued time spent together. She also cherished her many friends and was especially gifted at staying connected.
Surviving are her three daughters, Kathy (Leo) Nikowitz, of Green Bay, Becky (Jim) Frisch, of Antigo, Julie Button, of Green Bay; grandchildren, Tom (Mandy) Nikowitz, of Stevens Point, Andrea Frisch (Ryan Nell), of La Crosse, Molly Frisch, of Stevens Point, Kate Button, of Oshkosh, Luke Button, of Lafayette, Ind.; a brother, Robert Kroll, of Neenah, and a brother and sister-in-law, Lee (Rogene) Buckoski, of Menasha. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings and in-laws, Maurice (Hazel) Kroll, Lorian (Mike) Wichmann, Harold Weede, Donald (Sally) Kroll, Elaine Kroll, Hazel (Clifford) Flanagan, and other family members.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Ave., Green Bay, from 4-7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, Feb. 8, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1731 St. Agnes Drive, Green Bay, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Scott Malme officiating. Entombment will be at Fort Howard Mausoleum.
A memorial fund has been established in Ilamae’s name.
