McMinnville, Tenn., resident and Gillett native Howard Sidney Hanson, 81, was born Feb. 8, 1932, and died Jan. 22, 2014, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., following a one-month illness.
A retired serviceman with the United States Air Force, a veteran of Vietnam, and a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, he was the son of the late Sidney Russell and Lucille Lillian Luebeck Hanson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Hanson.
He was married April 18, 1964, to Willis Mae Hanson, of McMinnville, Tenn., who survives. He is also survived by daughter and son-in-law, Charmaine and Waylon Fincher, of McMinnville, Tenn.; two grandsons, Colton and Logan Fincher, of McMinnville, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Joanne Hanson, of Green Bay; and two nieces, Cheryl Bergstrom, of Green Bay, and Paula Hanson, of Fond du Lac.
The funeral service was held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, in High’s Chapel, officiated by Chris Keele. Burial followed in Mount Zion Cemetery, McMinnville, Tenn., with full military honors administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
