A special agent who investigates crimes against children will present “The Dark Side of Internet Technology” from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Falls Area Performing Arts Center at Oconto Falls High School.
Eric Szatkowski will discuss the latest trends in digital exploitation of children. He combines his investigative expertise with personal experience as a husband and father of two children.
Attendees will learn techniques used by predators, the types of kids who are most vulnerable, and the link between the growing victimization of children and the sexualized culture.
Topics include the latest on the potential dangers of social networking sites and disturbing trends of sexting, cyber bullying and webcam exploitation.
The presentation is intended for adults only; parents of school-aged children are encouraged to attend.
Szatkowski has been a special agent with the Wisconsin Department of Justice/Division of Criminal Investigation for 22 years. He is currently assigned to the state’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in Milwaukee. He has been a guest on the “Tyra Banks Show” and CNN. Some of his cases have been featured in “Cold Case Files” and People magazine.
