The Shawano Common Council on Jan. 14 approved work on three streets to start in 2026 with new pavement, sewer and water improvements.

The city will work on Center Street from Main to Sawyer streets, Pine Street from Bartlett to Franklin streets, and Washington Street from Green Bay to Fourth streets. The estimated cost for the three streets is almost $795,000, with David Tenor Corporation offering the lowest bid out of nine. The city had budgeted more than $812,000 for the work.

“They’ve worked in the community before, and we’ve had them here for the last several years,” public works director Mike Mahloch said. “We’ve been very satisfied with them, so I think it will be a good construction project season again this year.”

Mahloch said that water infrastructure improvements are planned for all three streets, while sewer improvements will be made on Center and Washington streets.
