Two people of interest are being sought by the Shawano Police Department after a shooting in the city Jan. 8.
Officers responded to a report after 9 p.m. regarding a shooting at a residence in the 500 block of South Sawyer Street in the City of Shawano. Upon arrival, officers located one victim who had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim received medical treatment at the scene and was transported by Shawano Ambulance Service for further evaluation.
The police department is seeking the community’s assistance with locating Deonte Matchopatow, 20, and Derek Corn, 19, who are considered people of interest in this ongoing investigation. At this time, no conclusions have been made, and these individuals are not being labeled as suspects, according to a police department press release.
Anyone who may have information regarding their whereabouts, recent activities, or who may have seen or interacted with them is encouraged to come forward, according to the release. Information can be provided confidentially, and even details that may seem minor could be helpful to the investigation. The police department is warning not to approach the men directly but to contact the appropriate authorities with any relevant information.
