The Pulaski Area Historical Society gathered veterans from modern conflicts all the way back to World War II and gave them an opportunity to tell folks about their service during a panel discussion at the local museum Nov. 8 to commemorate Veterans Day.

Two men died as the result of a single-vehicle crash and a third was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to a statement from the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the news release, at about 11:55 p.m. Nov. 8, authorities received a report of a crash on County Road BB near Nauman Road in the Town of Green Valley.

Shawano Community High School celebrated local veterans several days ahead of the designated day with music, honors and tales of what it means to be a veteran.

The Shawano Hometown Heroes program handed out the banners that had been hanging from lampposts along Main Street for almost six months while the SCHS concert band played patriotic music.

A few weekends ago, children volunteers from Oconto Falls’ St. Anthony Church and School helped LeRoy “Doc” Davidson clear out the last of Davidson Printing’s reams of paper, which he then donated to the school.

Construction plans for an expansion of Dearco Glass, Paint and Decorating are on target, with hopes of enclosing the new building in the next month or so, according to Randy Mallmann, general manager.

“We expect to have the building enclosed by the time the snow flies,” he said. “We’ll start moving equipment in after Jan. 1. There will be a lot of little things to do then, but we should be operational by spring.”

• Michael J. Thorson, 38, Tigerton, had his probation revoked Aug. 22 from a 2023 conviction for substantial battery intending bodily harm and a misdemeanor charge of bail jumping. Judge William Kussel Jr. sentenced him Nov. 3 to 18 months in prison followed by two years of extended supervision with conditions.
