National Weather Service issues winter weather advisories for tonight, Friday

The National Weather Service in Green Bay has issued winter weather advisories for Shawano County and southern Oconto County.

In Shawano County, the winter weather advisory will be in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, through 1 p.m. Friday, March 13.

Total snow accumulations of between 3 and 5 inches are expected, with winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

In Oconto County, the advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Thursday, March 12, through 1 p.m. Friday, March 13. Total snow accumulations of between 1 and 3 inches are expected, with winds gusting as high east 50 mph.

Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing and drifting snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday morning commute.

Even more snow is expected over the weekend. The NWS will provide a forecast for the amount of snowfall as the weekend approaches.
