The victim of a fatal crash in the Town of Pensaukee was identified Dec. 22 by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Department.

Stephen Paul Carr Cummins, 34, was the driver of the sport utility vehicle involved in the Dec. 15 rollover on U.S. Highway 41 east of Moody Road. A passenger, Lauren Marcy Jiardini, 31, also of Milwaukee, was hospitalized in Green Bay in what the traffic report indicates were suspected serious injuries.

The report states that the SUV was southbound on Highway 41 at a high rate of speed when it briefly went into the median. Cummins overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll over while crossing the center line, and the SUV rolled over several more times while going into the ditch on the northwest side of the highway, the report said.

The vehicle came to rest on its passenger side against some trees. The occupants were not wearing their seat belts, and both were ejected. Life-saving measures were attempted, but Cummins was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred about 8:41 a.m. Dec. 15, according to the report.
