James A. Quandt, 81, of the town of Breed, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at his home under the care of Southern Care Hospice. He was born in the town of Breed on Oct. 15, 1932, to Chris and Anna (Zieries) Quandt.
James served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1954. On June 5, 1954, he married Evelyn School at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Suring.
James worked at Allen Bradley in Milwaukee until the time he moved back to Suring. After moving back to Suring, he worked as a logger until he started working at New Line in Suring and worked there until he retired. James continued working after retirement as a transport driver for New View Industries.
He was the board supervisor for the town of Breed for six years. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and berry picking.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn; daughter, Karen (Jeffrey) Hoffman, of Appleton; son, Mark (Amy) Quandt, of Suring; four grandchildren, Nicholas, Jennifer, Bradley (Ashley Moore) and Taylor; sisters, Luella (Chester) Schuettpelz, of Suring, Edna (Roman) Gipp, of Seymour, and Dorothy (Richard) Witt, of Suring; brothers, John (Oriean) Quandt, of Shawano, Gerald (Geraldine) Quandt, of Green Bay, Melvin (Jean) Quandt, of Breed, and Orville (Bette) Quandt, of Suring; and sisters-in-law, LaVerne (Norman) Kufner, Eunice School, and Evelyn School. James is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9-11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at St. Michael’s Catholic Chapel, Junction. Memorial Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Town of Breed Cemetery.
