Randy M. Zahn

Randy M. Zahn, 65, Oconto Falls, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, unexpectedly and peacefully at home. Randy was the first-born son to Marvin and Dorthy Zahn. He was a baptized, confirmed and active member of Immanuel/Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett. Randy graduated high school and went on to obtain his associate’s degree from Moraine Park Technical School. He was a proud business partner and later, owner of Bartlet Business Machines, which he ran for 30 years. He ran a successful business, but his heart was still in the family farm, bringing innovative technology to the farm. He was the pioneer of the annual farm corn roast and enjoyed hunting on the family farm. Though he never got a deer, he loved the camaraderie, and the family tradition of a shot of blackberry brandy when someone else got one, and steak and lobster before opening day. Growing up, his nephews always looked forward to Christmas with the high-tech toys and gifts their uncle would bring them. He was generous throughout his life, always had a unique sense of humor and was an avid golfer. Randy brought the joy of music to everyone around him, especially through playing the trumpet, polka bands, at church, and being a DJ. The farmer in him led him to gardening, making homemade spicy juice and salsa, sharing with all of those around him. He also loved kayaking and watching the Packers with friends. Randy excelled and took pride in bringing technology (audio/visual setups) to anyone with their technology needs, including the Immanuel Church, other community parishes, family and friends. He also enjoyed his UTV rides with Tokey. Randy is survived by three siblings, Robert (Kathleen) Zahn, Rick (Debbie) Zahn and Cindy (John) Banchy; nieces and nephews, Justin (fiancée Whitney), Jacob (Kaitlyn), Jesse (fiancée Emily), Eric (Kelly), Mindy Ward, Noah (Crystal), Luke; great-niece and -nephew, Kaden and Delaney; aunt, Beatrice Krause; uncle, Ronald (Jody) Zahn; special friend, Joanne Strehlow; friends, Al Falish, Tom Blazer and Larry Buchholz; business family, Linda Krueger and Pete Denisen; and Tokey, his devoted dog and companion. He is further survived by many cousins, other relatives and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his father and mother, Marvin and Dorothy; aunt, Lillian; uncles, Roy Miller and Jim Krause. Visitation will be held at Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Stoll officiating. Lunch will be at the church following the service with procession, including final ride around the farm. Randy will be laid to rest across the road from the farm near his parents in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Gillett. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
