Last season the Gresham Community High School volleyball team’s offense went through Darci Huntington. The graduated senior was a second-team all-Central Wisconsin Conference-10 selection, the only Gresham player to get all-conference recognition last year. This year coach Tim Wild is looking for someone to replace Huntington in his 5-1 offense. “She was on the court, basically, the whole time,” Wild said.

Bears win own volleyball invite The Bonduel High School volleyball team went 9-2 in its invitational Tuesday in Bonduel. The Bears went 3-1 against Suring, 3-0 against Lena and 3-1 against Waupaca. Clintonville won its 13th Badger Amateur Baseball Association grand championship, beating Elderon 13-7 Sunday at Don Jirschele Stadium in Clintonville. It was Elderon’s fifth runner-up finish in as many tries. Elderon led 5-3 in the top of the seventh, but a 10-run rally with two outs by Clintonville sealed the outcome. Hits by Dean Muthig, Jesse Wiley and Mack Schingler tied the game at 5-5.

The Bonduel High School girls golf team finished fourth Tuesday in a Eastern Valley Conference meet at Golden Sands Golf Course in Cecil. “I’m very happy, they did extremely well,” Bonduel coach Lynn Schaal said. Fox Valley Lutheran (174) won the meet, followed by Freedom and Appleton Xavier (178), Bonduel (202) and Little Chute (203).

Ron Berna put his name at the top of the total track champions list at Shawano Speedway when he won the Late Model track championship Saturday night. He has eight track championships — five in the Late Model division and three in the IMCA Modified division. Jason Czarapata won his third straight IMCA Modified track championship, while his cousin Brandon Czarapata won his first IMCA Stock Car title.

Green Bay Packers Stop Kaepernick Easier said than done, the Green Bay Packers spent an entire offseason trying to figure out how to win this game. Most of that preparation went into stopping Kaepernick and the read option. As the Baltimore Ravens proved in the Super Bowl, it can be done. The Packers will need to place pressure on the quarterback early and often.

Sunday’s events at Shawano Speedway did not have the drama of Saturday night’s championships, but wreckage and fun more than made up for it.
