Donald K. Peterson, of Napa, Calif., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Queen of The Valley Medical Center in Napa. He was born Sept. 28, 1921, in Oconto Falls to Frank and Margaret (Kadlec) Peterson. He graduated from Marinette High School on May 31, 1938. He was married on Nov. 4, 1944, in Bonduel to Ione Mitchell, who preceded him in death on Sept. 18, 2005. He was a member of St.

Sometimes when I look out my window, I think it’s snowing. Then I realize that it is only leaves coming down from the trees. Once in a while it is one lonely leaf spiraling its way down to fall quietly onto the earth. It is hard to deny that autumn is settling in all around us. The past couple of weeks, I have noticed splashes of color here and there in the trees.

Every now and then my daughter introduces her dad and me to reality shows on cable. The first one was “Duck Dynasty,” which has become a family favorite. I enjoy the Robertson clan, love what they stand for and usually laugh out loud at their antics or cry at their sentiments, and during most episodes, do both. Especially touching is the prayer at the family dinner table, closing every show.

Tony Wagner enjoys the projects and the kids in 4-H. He has been a 4-H leader for 39 years. Wagner grew up in Green Valley, graduating from Pulaski High School. After graduation he farmed for 31 years. Wagner had 25 cows and 120 acres on the farm now worked by his son, Hank, who has 650 cows and over 800 acres. Wagner and his wife, Judy, have been married 53 years.

The Belle Plaine 4-H Club started with a lot of members in 1973, and it continues to be one of the bigger clubs in Shawano County with 49 city and country kids. Four co-leaders — Nancy Schauer, Nancy Netzel, and Doug and Mary Clark — make sure the club runs smoothly. “We get comments from people who are visiting saying it’s well organized and we keep the meeting rolling,” Netzel said. Steven Lane Emerson, 62, died Aug. 26, 2013, in Phoenix, Ariz., after a long illness. Steven was born on Feb. 6, 1951, in Waukesha. He was raised in Shawano, attending Shawano elementary, junior high, and senior high schools. He served in Vietnam with the USMC in 1969 and 1970. He was employed in the Milwaukee and Fond du Lac areas.

Irene Selle, 94, of Tigerton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, surrounded by family at Homme Home of Wittenberg. The former Irene Rohlinger was born on Feb. 20, 1919, in Edgar to the late Peter and Agnes (Grieten) Rohlinger. On Nov. 2, 1937, she was united in marriage to Walter R.

The Shawano/Bonduel swim team took second Thursday at the Bay Conference Relays in Sturgeon Bay. Shawano/Bonduel scored in nine of 11 events and finished with 72 points, behind only(94). Seymour (58) took third and Clintonville (54) took fourth. The Hawks won three events.
