The County Board on Thursday unanimously agreed to end health and dental insurance coverage for the County Board chairman, effective July 31. The resolution gained unanimous approval Thursday, with Chairman Lee Rymer among those voting yes. Two supervisors were absent. With the change, the county is set to save $1,465 a month: $1,410 for health insurance and $55 for dental.

The village of Suring is working with engineers to streamline the arsenic removal process of one of its wells. Representatives from Robert E. Lee & Associates met on April 21 with the Suring Village Board to explain the progress made with arsenic removal at Well No.

Work is beginning this spring at two low-income apartment buildings in Suring. Village Clerk Carol Heise, in an April 21 report to the Suring Village Board, said roofing will be done at Pioneer Villa, 415 N. Mill St., as soon as the weather permits. In addition, the windows will be replaced at Pioneer Villa and Manor Drive apartments, and new energy efficient appliances will replace the old ones.

The stage is set for the demolition of 14 properties on the block north of the courthouse where a law enforcement center will be constructed. The Oconto County Board on Thursday selected Statewide Razing, of Combined Locks, to remove the properties at a cost of just under $150,000.
