To the editor: Mayor says: “Let’s cut the crap!” I say: “Craps gotta be cut!” Since when is it appropriate for elected city officials who have the prestigious power to make the most important decisions for our city of Clintonville to attend their council meetings wearing blue jeans and sweatshirt while taking their oath of office?

To the editor: I was ashamed at comments that were reportedly made at the recent City Council meeting when a homeless shelter proposal was debated — referring to those who are homeless as “those people” and stating that homelessness is a “chosen form of life.” Many who are homeless are also living with mental illness of some type. Do people really think that one chooses to have mental illness? Get real, people.

A lot has happened while I spent the past few weeks going to softball games. There are only three more regular-season games left, and I will have to start thinking about what comes next. Meanwhile, when the Gresham High School softball team traveled to Tigerton to take on the Tigers, their coach walked over to the stands where I was sitting. She was carrying my bleacher seat. She asked if one of the people in the stands was Leah Lehman.

As I go about our work on the farm, I talk to the animals. Many times, hearing our voice soothes them and also gets them to where we want them to go, keeping everybody on the same page. Once in a while we have to holler at them because let’s face it, animals can be awfully stubborn and try our patience.
