The women have their own Facebook page, shawanocaresaboutcirtters, where they give information and advice on taking care of pets. “Carla and I met on Facebook,” Nowak said.

Betty Pearson volunteers to tutor several students for the Shawano County Literacy Council. She was born in Wauwatosa, graduating from Wauwatosa East High School. She earned a degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in speech communication and a master’s degree in urban education. The Bonduel High School volleyball team overcame a slow start Thursday to push Weyauwega-Fremont to five games, but fell in the final, 15-9.
