Shawano golfer misses state cut

Shawano Community High School senior Courtney Baumann missed a chance to advance to the WIAA state golf meet on Tuesday. Baumann shot a 100 at the WIAA Division 1 sectional Tuesday at Thornberry Creek at Oneida, missing the cut by 19 strokes. “I thought she played some of the best golf, and some of her worst golf,” Shawano coach Dean Kugler said. Monfils 5th in Brillion
Teagan Monfils logged a top-10 finish and the Shawano Community High School cross-country teams finished fourth Tuesday at the Brillion Invitational. Monfils finished in 16 minutes, 4 seconds to take fifth. SCHS’s Kristy Kurtz finished 10th in 16:45. Hortonville won the girls meet. Billion won the boys meet. Hawks close in on football playoff berth
It was Will Cox weather. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound senior rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns on a muddy field Saturday as the Shawano Community High School football team beat Marinette 20-15. County seeking grant money for evidence facility
The Shawano County Administrative Committee gave its approval Monday to seek Greenlight Grants to fund construction of an evidence storage facility. County officials were heartened by a conference call with Greenlight representatives Friday. Although it had previously been suggested that the county could obtain grant funding through the U.S.

Woman tries to rob Gresham bank
Authorities were still looking Tuesday for a woman who tried to hold up the Gresham State Bank on Monday and fled the scene without getting any money. The incident sparked a brief lockdown at the nearby Gresham School after witnesses said the woman fled on foot in that direction. Stockbridge-Munsee Police responded to a robbery alarm at the bank, 801 S. Main St., about 2:40 p.m.

Birnamwood woman faces 30 counts of child porn possession
A Birnamwood woman was charged Tuesday with 30 counts of possessing child pornography. Falisha Nicole Foxx, 48, also known as Edwin J. Muhs, could face a maximum 25 years in prison and a $100,000 fine on each count if convicted. A warrant has been issued for her arrest. Foxx was previously convicted in Marathon County of one count of possessing child porn. Four other counts were dismissed under a plea agreement.

Juvenile arrested in Angelica on possible burlary charges
Authorities responding to a report of a prowler Tuesday morning arrested a 16-year-old Pulaski male on possible burglary charges. Shawano County sheriff’s deputies were called just before 8 a.m.

Shawano enrollment increases
The Shawano School District is continuing to see an upward trend in student enrollment, administrators reported Monday. Superintendent Gary Cumberland told the School Board that the district’s enrollment is 2,611, a 2.2 percent hike from 2,544 students reported for the 2012-13 school year.
