Norman 'Jake' Peterson

Norman “Jake” Peterson, 73, of Gillett, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, with family by his side. Jake was born April 22, 1951, to the late Edward and Mildred (Olson) Peterson in Oconto Falls. He graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1970. On Sept. 2, 1978, Jake married the love of his life, Susan Gomber, at St. John Catholic Church in Gillett. Jake started working in construction before moving on to logging. He spent the remainder of his working career as a truck driver. Jake also kept beef cattle and hogs. When he wasn’t working, Jake enjoyed spending time with his sons. He loved hunting and fishing and being able to share that love with his sons. Even when he wasn’t physically able to hunt, Jake enjoyed riding along bear hunting and listening to the dogs. He also enjoyed ice fishing. Jake is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sue; four sons, Keith Peterson, Kyle (Dana) Peterson, Norm (Jess) Peterson and Chad (Nel) Peterson; grandchildren, Brittany, Jacob (Alley), Willimina “Billie” (Brendon), Lindsey, Emily, Abby and Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Piper and Dante; sister, Gail Simmons. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Peter and Patricia Gomber. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church in Gillett from 9 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chris Byars officiating.
