Barbara L. VanHulle

Barbara L. VanHulle, 90, Oconto, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, with family by her side. Barb was born Aug. 27, 1934, in Oconto to the late Edmund and Celia (Belongia) Bourassa. She married Jerald VanHulle on Nov. 28, 1953, and they were married for 70 years before Jerry preceded Barb in death on Oct. 22, 2023. Barb and Jerry farmed the VanHulle Homestead for 30 years, and she kept many beautiful flower beds all around the farm as well as a big garden. She loved mowing the grass and taking care of the yard. Every Christmas, she made hundreds of Christmas cookies to give to family and friends. Barb loved her grandchildren and made sure each one had a special birthday. She was always the life of the party and loved taking pictures. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Jerry and attending country music shows. She even got to kiss Johnny Cash on stage one time. Barb was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto. She will be greatly missed by many. Barb is survived by three daughters, Diane (Richard) Riewe, Sharon (John) Nordquist, Kathy (Tom) Klarner; three sons, Robert (Kathy) VanHulle, Kevin (Angie) VanHulle, Randy (Kelly) VanHulle; one brother, Byron Bourassa; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Claudia Bourassa, Viola Bourassa, Evelyn Pansier, Marietta (Jim) Allen, Frank (Janice) VanHulle, Howard (Donna) VanHulle; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband, Jerald; sisters, Bette, Jean and Marilyn; and brothers, Clifford, Francis, Robert, William and Thomas. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 18, 2024. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Dave Westenberg officiating. Burial will be at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
