Robert Kosloske

Dear family and friends: This will be my final letter from sunny southwest Florida. I won’t be including the weather forecast in this one for those of you in the north. On April 5, 2022, time, or rather all of the fun I had been having, finally caught up with me, and I am now and forever with my brother, Jack, and good friend, Peter. My family was with me as I made my final journey. I had a pretty darn good life growing up in Neenah. My parents, Clem and Bea Kosloske, did their best to make sure Jack and I stayed out of trouble. After graduating from high school I went to the University of Oshkosh on the eight-year plan, finally graduating in 1969 with an English degree — maybe where my love of writing letters came from. For the next 53 years I gave it everything I had and lived without regrets. I married and divorced, ran a department store and other retail stores, played tennis a lot, played softball, went to Packers games and some Bucks games, had lots of bonfires in Shawano, read books, went to the casino, never losing more than a “fistful of dollars,” grilled a lot of brats and ate them as well, especially on neighborhood watch. Those who know me well, know I had a twin brother — Clint Eastwood. Clint even gave me his driver’s license to prove it. I always enjoyed a good joke and think I could BS with the best of them. In 2006, I bought my condo in Fort Myers and had the most fulfilling job I’ve ever held, pool lifeguard. I embraced this job and was willing to work sevem days a week, as long as it was sunny and I didn’t actually have to go into the water. I sold my Shawano Lake house in 2021 and moved fulltime down to sunny southwest Florida and had plans to spend my days in the sun relaxing by the pool, on my sunporch or on the tennis court. Now I never have to worry about a cloudy day or running out of Busch Light. The sun is always shining and the fridge is always full. I am going to close this letter now. I think it’s time for another Busch Light. I was preceded in death by Clem Kosloske (father), Bea Kosloske (mother) and Jack Kosloske (brother). I am survived by Carrie Smits (niece), Larry (husband) and family and Chayne Kosloske (nephew), Tammy (wife) and family.
