Milbon’s big day lifts Nichols over Cecil

Jace Midbon’s four hits and four RBIs were enough for Nichols to pick up a win over the Mudhens in the final Dairyland League regular-season game for both teams.

His hits included a bases-loaded double in the sixth inning and an RBI single in the eighth.

Midbon also struck out 16 batters and held Cecil to five hits.

Nichols opened the scoring in the first inning on Jacob Vannett’s RBI single.

Cecil took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning after Braden Uelmen doubled to center field and a wild pitch.

Nichols tied the game in the bottom half of the inning on Justin Krull’s run-scoring single.

Midbon’s three-run double broke the 2-2 tie and gave the Nitros the lead for good.

Jake Sager took the loss for the Mudhens after going 5 2/3 innings. He gave up 10 hits and finished with five strikeouts.

Besides Midbon, Krull, Vannett, Tony Dietzen and Will Debrune had more than one hit for Nichols. Midbon also had two of his team’s four stolen bases.

Mason Meverden led Cecil with two hits.

Hortonville 5, Bonduel 1

Bonduel took an early lead in the first inning on Easton Reinke’s single that scored Chase Reinke, but that turned out to be the Broncos’ only run.

Chase Reinke and Cooper Campshure had two of Bonduel’s seven hits.

Noah Weier took the loss on the mound as the Broncos finished 8-8 in league play.

Pulaski 15, Shawano 8

The Reds came up with 23 hits in a win over the Lobos.

Brandon Black and Tyler Scufka had home runs for Pulaski, while Shawano’s Chase Henning hit the longest home run at Pulaski’s Doug McDermid Field in recent history.

Easton Vertz picked up the win on the mound.

Navarino 11, Pulaski 1 (7 inn.)

A nine-run fourth inning helped the Rangers pick up a late-season win over the Reds.

The big inning included a solo home run from Hunter Larson, Kyle Mrozynski’s two-run hit and Larson’s two-run double.

Winning pitcher Mike Nompleggi went the distance on the mound and held the Reds to four hits.

Ben Prodell led the Rangers at the plate with three hits and three RBIs. Larson and Owen Weber added two hits.

July 30

Shawano 14, Nichols 4

Shawano outscored the Nitros by 10 runs in a rescheduled game.

July 28

Bonduel 20, Marinette 3 (7 inn.)

Bonduel plated 20 baserunners in only seven innings, including 11 in the bottom of the first inning.

The Broncos added two more runs in the third inning and seven more in the sixth.

Chase Reinke, Easton Reinke, Jack Reinke, Barret Bohm and Wyatt Reinke each had two of Bonduel’s 15 hits. Noah Weier added a home run and three RBIs, while Jack Reinke and Bohm led the team with four RBIs each.

Jack Reinke held the Redbirds to three runs over five innings to get the win on the mound.
