Margaret M. Shallow

Margaret M. Shallow, 96, Lena, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025, with her loving family at her side. She was born on May 25, 1928, to the late Oscar and Mary (Kort) Schlosser. Margaret graduated from Lena High School in 1945 and completed a teaching certificate at Marinette Normal School. She taught for several years in grades 1-8 for schools in the area. On April 7, 1951, Margaret married her lifelong sweetheart, Oliver Shallow Jr., at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lena. The couple had eight children who they raised on a dairy farm in rural Lena. Margaret’s interests included crocheting, oil painting, reading, puzzles, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her children, Barbara (Bill) Zahn, Michael (Gloria), Robert (Diane), Gary (Trudy), Deborah (David) Rhode, Jeffrey (Darlene), Christina and William (Ginny) Shallow. There are 23 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren to mourn her passing. Further survivors include her brothers-in-law, Donald Olson, Russell (Mary) Shallow, Wayne (Bonnie) Shallow; and sisters-in-law, Marie (Bill) Grady, Dolly (Richard) Gilles, Gail Shallow, Eileen Shallow, Mary Lynn Shallow and Sharon Van Haden. Several cousins and many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior; her parents; sister, Betty Olson; and brother. George (Dorothy) Schlosser. Margaret was also preceded in death by Junior’s family members, Oliver Sr. and Gladys Shallow, Phyllis (Joseph) Smith, Chester (Joyce), Carmen (Donald) Danks, Vernon (Eloise), Jean (Dale) Henrichs, Roger, Kenneth, Richard and Gerald. Family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 221 E. Main St. Lena. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Ben Johnson to officiate.
