Lester Kraning

Lester “Pete” Kraning, 85, Town of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. The son of Herman and Emma (Krause) Kraning was born Sept. 11, 1936. Pete married Bonnie Bierhals on Sept. 17, 1966, at Peace Lutheran Church. In his earlier years, he was a foreman for C. Reiss Coal in Green Bay. For the majority of the rest of his working career, he was self-employed. He owned and operated Kraning Packing, worked at Green Bay Dressed Beef for a number of years and owned National Bowling Pin Co. until his retirement. Pete enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling and hunting in his younger years. He enjoyed having a good steak at supper clubs. Playing sheepshead with family was a favorite pastime. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Pete was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church. Pete is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Bonnie; two children: Cheryl Kraning, Pulaski, and Kelly (Jean) Kraning and their daughter, Marie, Pulaski; a sister, Martha Kamba, Freedom; a brother, Elmer (Betty) Kraning, Angelica. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Sandy Bierhals, Millie Kraning, Gene (Adriane) Bierhals, Bruce Bierhals, Don (Shelly) Bierhals and Gail (Nita) Bierhals; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, Herman and Emma, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ervin (Betty) Kraning, Leroy Kraning and an infant brother; a sister, Margaret (Jim) Born; and a brother-in-law, Carl Bierhals. Friends are invited to gather with family at Peace Lutheran Church, 1954 County Road U, Green Bay, on Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 9-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stuart Dornfeld officiating. Burial will follow in Kunesh Cemetery, Kunesh. The family would like to thank the entire sixth-floor ICU staff at St. Vincent Hospital and a special thank you to PA-C, Danielle for the outstanding care given to Pete.
