Iris D. Schroeder

Iris Dawn Schroeder, Rockford, Illinois, died on her birthday, May 16, 2021, from the COVID-19 virus. Iris was born in the Town of Wescott to Glynn W. Schroeder and Ruth (Vorpahl) Schroeder. Iris graduated from Gillett High School in 1955. Iris moved to Rockford, Illinois, and worked at several manufacturing jobs at Testor Chemical and Barber Coleman. She moved to Oshkosh in 1975 where she attended cosmetology school. While in Oshkosh, she worked at Pranges Hair Salon in Appleton and Feminine Flair in Oshkosh. She then returned to Rockford where she continued her career as a beautician, owning an in-home salon, until the time of her death. Iris was always a Christian, reading her Bible daily and had a ministry of handing out devotional booklets of Our Daily Bread to thousands of people in her neighborhood, the park or anywhere she went. She loved to read the classics, watch movies and was an avid dancer, to include polkas and waltzes. Iris was an animal lover, and she had several dogs throughout her lifetime, including her current dog named Fox. Iris was also very generous, giving to numerous charities and organizations throughout her lifetime, and had a strong passion for the life issue supporting pro-life causes throughout her life. Iris is survived by her siblings, Lenore M. Robertson, Costa Mesa, California, Judith M. Pecore, Oshkosh, and Steven R. Schroeder (Debbie), Gillett. Iris also leaves behind beloved cousins, dear friend Charlotte Walker and others who were associated with her through her long career as a beautician. Iris is further survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Iris was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Dennis G. Schoeder and Maynard R. Schroeder; and sister, Holly A. Tucker. A prayer service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Kuehl Funeral Home in Gillett. Officiating at the service was Pastor Michael Paholke, with burial following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Suring. The Kuehl Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
