Ice Bears keep on winning

The winning ways continue for the Bay Area girls hockey team as the Ice Bears claimed a 5-1 win over Beaver Dam on Dec. 20.

After a scoreless first period, Bay Area scored three goals in the second period for a 3-0 lead.

Ava McDonald scored at 5:35 with assists from Aisling Buchan and Elliana Memken. Lily Lyons scored at 10:55 with help from McDonald and Addison Dahl, and Hannah Von Haden scored at 11:30 as Buchan and Lyons assisted.

Beaver Dan scored its only goal at 8:!0 in the third period. The Ice Bears responded with two goals by Buchan. Assisting on the her first goal at 11:58 were Piper Losey and Memken. Aiding on the second goal at 16:02 were Lyons and Abby Mommaerts.

Goalie Reese Spiering had 15 saves against 16 shots on goal, while Beaver Dam’s Arianna Wallace had 34 saves against 39 shots on goals.

Bay Area was called for four penalties for eight minutes, while the Golden Beavers had three infractions for six minutes.
