In a battle of co-op boys hockey teams, Shawano/Bonduel defeated Chequamegon/Phillips/Butternut 4-2 on Dec. 20 at the Crawford Center in Shawano.
The Hawks opened the game three goals in the first period.
Michael Dillenberg scored at 9:08 with Teagan Harkey and Quinten Harkey assisting. Gavin Hundt scored unassisted at 13:53, and Cameron Schroeder had help from Waylon Snider when he scored at 16:58.
The visitors scored 16 seconds into the second period, and Shawano/Bonduel’s response came at 13:09 when Blake Swedberg scored with Cameron Schroeder and Wyatt Schroeder assisting.
Chequamegon/Phillips/Butternut took 21 shots on goal in the third period but only came away with one more goal.
Hawks goalie Tyson Lyons had 41 saves against 43 shots on goal. Nick Pesko had 26 saves against 30 shots on goal for Chequamegon/Phillips/Butternut.
The visitors were penalized five times for 10 minutes, while the hosts were called for 10 penalties for 20 minutes.
Friday, Dec. 19
Notre Dame 5, Bay Area 2
Pulaski’s Braden Becks and Bay Port’s Aiden Buchan each scored a goal, but they weren’t enough as Bay Area lost 5-2 to Notre Dame.
Becks scored at 6:07 in the the first period with help from Tyler Wempe. Notre Dame tied the game a minute later.
Pulaski’s Brody Hronek assisted Buchan on his goal at 12:25 in the second period to give the Storm a 2-1 lead. However, Notre Dame scored twice toward the end of the period to go up 3-2 and twice in the third period to seal the 5-2 win.
Storm goalie Justin Pintar had 31 saves against 36 shots on goal. Tritons goalie Ty Schmitz had 19 saves against 21 shots on goal.
Bay Area was penalized seven times for 22 minutes, and Notre Dame was penalized four times for eight minutes.
