Guenter Franz Gustav Woosmann, 86, of Gillett, passed away on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, with family by his side.
Guenter was born on Aug. 31, 1938, to the late Erich and Berta (Meckelburg) Woosmann in Elbing, Germany. Guenter joined the German navy at 19 years old and served for six years. While in the navy, he traveled to the Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago and met his wife, Olga Mantai.
They eventually settled in Chicago and moved to Gillett in 1975. Guenter worked for Midcentral Tool/S&M Machining in Oconto Falls for over 30 years. He was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett where he faithfully attended.
Guenter is survived by his wife, Olga; children, Heike (Mark) Logic, Mike (Jackie) Woosmann and Rainer Woosmann; grandchildren, Alex, Claire, Zach, Erika, Luke, Lauryn, Nicholas, Dylan and Noah; three great-grandchildren, Easton, Brinley and Ellie.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeff.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024, at Faith United Lutheran Church in Gillett from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at noon with Pastor Steven Stoll officiating. Guenter will be interred at Wanderer’s Rest Cemetery following the services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Serenity Gardens, Gillett.
The family would like to thank the angels of Serenity Gardens and Unity Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Guenter. He always said, “They take such good care of me here.” Thank you to Pastor John Laatsch for all the friendship and ministry over the years.
