Emmie Jean Barke, 97, of Gillett, died peacefully at home on May 30, 2025.
She was born Jan. 27, 1928, to Alfred and Clara (Koll) Barke. She married Arnold Barke on April 22, 1955, in Thomasville, Georgia.
Emmie worked in Green Bay for Dr. Gallagher as a receptionist for 30 years, and she also helped manage her husband’s cedar post and lumbar business. She was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time at the casinos. Emmie also had a great love for the many dogs she had over the years.
Emmie was loved and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and infant sister, Mae.
Visitation will take place after 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Grace Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Olson officiating. Burial to follow at Wanderer’s Rest Cemetery in Gillett.
