Daniel J. Hable

Daniel J. Hable, 65, of Antigo, passed away peacefully at his home July 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on Nov. 20, 1959, at Langlade Memorial Hospital in Antigo, Dan was the son of Frank and Joan (De Broux) Hable. Dan lived life fully and with joy. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and spending time in nature. A “master” gardener in every sense, he took pride in his green thumb and the peaceful time he spent in the garden. Dan enjoyed the company of his beloved “squirrel buddies,” which he kept happily fed. Whether he was behind the wheel of a truck or tractor, out on the farm, or enjoying the excitement of truck races in Antigo and Eagle River, Dan found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He also enjoyed golfing, bowling on a league and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, where he was always a proud and supportive presence. Dan was known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He loved sharing old-school jokes, goofing around and keeping those around him laughing. He was happiest when surrounded by family, sharing stories and soaking in the joys of everyday life. Dan’s love for the outdoors, his commitment to family, and his signature humor leave behind memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew him. Dan is survived by his children, Sheldon (Candy) Hable and Ashley Hable, all of Antigo, Dustin (Magon) Hable of White Lake and Stephanie (Shane) Creech of Alabama; grandchildren, Jase, Sheyanne, Maci, James, Ivan, Sawyer, Kade and Miya; siblings and in-laws, Lisa (Duane) Zywicki, Frank Hable, Bob Hable, Duane Ostrowski, Mary (Paul) Sippl, Betty Bowman, Kathy (Randy) Wolinski, Edward Hable and Theresa (Roy) Spranger. Dan was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Catherine Anne Hable and Lori Ostrowski , and brother-in-law, Bernie Bowman. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home, Birnamwood. Rev. Vicente Llagas and Deacon Andrew Bures will preside. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Aniwa. Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. and again on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, all at Schmidt & Schulta Funeral Home in Birnamwood.
