Firefighters from five departments battled a barn fire in single-digit temperatures and high wind in the town of Wittenberg on Sunday evening.
The blaze at 6180N County Road M was reported just before 5 p.m.
No one was reported injured, but several cattle were reported lost. Most of the cattle escaped the fire, according to authorities.
Crews were on the scene for more than five hours. The fire also temporarily closed County Road M.
Wittenberg, Tigerton, Bowler, Hatley and Birnamwood fire departments responded, along with Shawano County sheriff’s deputies.
The barn was a total loss and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
